Assistant Professor - Urban Geography or Urban Studies

The Department of Geography, Environment and Society at the The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (UMTC) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in Urban Geography or Urban Studies, to begin fall semester 2019 (August 26, 2019).

UMTC is excited to receive applications from scholars with an established track record of publication and the potential to make theoretical and empirical contributions that will shape the way the fields of urban geography and urban studies respond to a rapidly changing world. Applications are sought from scholars in any urban subfield. Those whose research engages the fields of Black geographies, Indigenous Studies, carceral geographies, urban political ecology, critical infrastructure studies and/or postcolonial urban theory are especially encouraged to apply. The Department is committed to the priorities of the University of Minnesota to recruit and retain a diverse faculty comprising the best field-shaping researchers and teachers and to reduce barriers to interdisciplinary partnerships. The successful candidate will not only contribute to the intellectual life of our department but will have the opportunity to engage with exciting programs across our leading research university, including the Race, Indigeneity, Gender, and Sexuality (RIGS) Initiative, the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center, the Institute on the Environment and the Minnesota Population Center.
