The School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, is seeking to appoint an Assistant/ Associate Professor in urban economics. The successful candidate should have an established track record in research into urban economics, and should be an established principal investigator.
They will join a team of experienced researchers and a committed teaching team in The Urban Institute and will play a leading role in delivering and expanding its portfolio of research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver courses in urban economics and real estate, and is particularly suited to someone with research interests in city competitiveness, social and productive infrastructure (e.g. transport), and the economics of planning.
Applicants must have a good record of high quality publications and possess excellent team working and communication skills. They should have a strong commitment to external engagement with policy and practice, and an ambition to develop impactful research.
Previous teaching experience, a strong commitment to the student experience, and evidence of innovation in teaching delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels would be essential. The candidate must also be a graduate in economics or economic geography with a doctorate in urban studies, geography or a closely related field.
