The University of Auckland Business School invites applications for a Full Professor or Associate Professor in the department of Property (Real Estate), a leading centre of property education and research in Australasia.
The successful applicant will have an excellent record in teaching and scholarly research activity consistent with a senior level faculty appointment and will be expected to:
- demonstrate commitment to teaching; inspire outstanding students
- mentor and collaborate with research active colleagues
- engage in impactful research for, and outreach to, industry.
Applications are welcomed from those with a doctoral qualification in a recognised area of property (real estate); or cognate discipline in conjunction with an established international research profile in property (real estate) related areas such as property investment, property finance, property valuation (appraisal), property/urban economics, property marketing. Applicants offering strong academic credentials together with industry experience would be of particular interest.
The appointee will provide leadership to support the Property department's research and teaching aspirations; enhancing its local and international reputation and helping to attract, retain and mentor highly motivated junior colleagues. Those who demonstrate a collaborative style and contagious enthusiasm to further the department's endeavours and reach will be appreciated.
The department offers a suite of Bachelor, Honours, Masters and PhD programmes with lecturers who provide an holistic perspective on the discipline, enhanced by close links with the property industry. The BProp in particular is highly regarded by industry and accredited by the Valuers Registration Board, the Property Institute of New Zealand and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Academic staff are research active, publishing in top-ranked international journals across a wide range of areas including property (real estate) economics, housing, property (real estate) finance and investment, disaster management, property (real estate) management, property (real estate) valuation, behavioural real estate and property education. Staff value their connection with industry and are quoted frequently in the media.
