Using a provincial-level dataset and information on political cadres in the Ministry of Land and Resource in China, Lu and Wang estimate an econometric model that reflects the relationship between regional favouritism and construction land expansion.

A longitudinal analysis of the effect of public rail infrastructure on proximate residential property transactions by Edmund Zolnik

New study advances the state of knowledge on value capture documenting that the public rail infrastructure of the Metro in Washington, DC adds property value across the entire rail system, but that value is modest and the year-to-year changes are dramatic.

Call for Papers: Special Issue of Urban Studies

URBAN PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCIES AND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Urban Studies Journal is calling for paper submissions for a special issue that theoretically and/or empirically examine COVID-19 and other pandemics as urban public health emergencies. The special issue will compile a series of contributions which will improve our understanding of the new and emerging relationships between urbanization and infectious disease. Five broad themes have been identified as framing topics of interest although other substantive urban issues will be considered.
