Film screening at RGS-IBG on the 31st August

30th Aug 2017

Screening of the documentary "It Started Raining" at the RGS-IBG, London, 31st August (Thursday)

The documentary comes out of more than two years of video-ethnographic work that Michele Lancione has undertaken around forced evictions against Roma people in Bucharest, Romania. The film speaks of occupation, resistance, homelessness, racialised housing policy and it aims to show how it may be possible to mix academic fieldwork, activist-oriented work and creative methods to create space for empowering experiences and meaningful exchange. The screening will be followed by a panel hosting several scholars that are renowned for their work around visual methodologies, urban ethnography and eviction. In this second panel there will be time for viewers to interact and to discuss the broader issues raised by the project. More info on the film at www.ainceputploaia.com.
