Inviting applications for the tenth annual PhD Workshop at IIHS

The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) invites applications for the tenth iteration of its annual PhD Workshop that will be held from 8 to 10 January 2024, online and in person at the IIHS, Bengaluru City Campus.

The Workshop is designed to provide a platform for in-depth exploration for early and mid-to-late stage PhD students, and fine-tune their work. The structure of the Workshop, and the modules within it, are designed to be relevant to students from different disciplines and at different stages of their doctoral career. The structure also allows for specific attention to the needs of individual scholars and enables peer to peer learning.

Applications for the tenth iteration are now open and will close on 20 November 2023. Please note, only candidates currently enrolled in a PhD programme are eligible.

Announcing Urban ARC 2024 | Unpacking Marginalities

The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) is delighted to invite submissions for the eighth edition of Urban ARC, IIHS’ Annual Research Conference that will take place from 11 to 13 January 2024, virtually and in person, at the IIHS Bengaluru City Campus.

The theme for this edition is ‘Unpacking Marginalities’. The theme speaks to the context of climate change, pandemic, conflicts, migration, demographic shifts, financial meltdowns and technological developments posing unprecedented challenges as well as opportunities for people living in urban margins, particularly those in the urban Global South.

Panel as well as paper submissions are welcomed covering several sectors, disciplines and methods, using the lens of research, academia, policy and practice. Work is invited that looks at both contemporary and historical ways of studying the urban.

The deadline for applications is 20 November 2023.
