Announcing the Seventh Annual PhD Workshop at IIHS

The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) invites applications for the seventh edition of the annual PhD Workshop to be held from 11 to 13 January 2021. The workshop aims to shape the trajectory of a doctoral career and enable participants to both, engage with the imperatives of the changing form of the discipline itself, and also meet the academic demands of the doctoral process. The workshop will host participants from a wide range of disciplinary mix, with the common thread being an interest in research practice that engages with the Urban.

The format of the workshop will be finalised based on the applications received and the ground conditions in January 2021. Interested applicants should send in their submission by 23 November 2020. Announcing Urban ARC 2021: Urban Imaginaries: Past, Present and Future

The IIHS is pleased to announce the fifth edition of our annual research conference Urban ARC, to be held from 14 to 16 January 2021.

The idea of imaginaries holds a pivotal place in inquiry. Central to the very nature of knowledge production is the imagination of a better world. It is in keeping with this centrality of imaginations, that Urban ARC 2021 invites papers and panels from a wide range of disciplinary spaces, situated in theoretical, methodological or practice-based approaches to the urban. The conference aims to provide a critical and fruitful space for engagement across themes, sectors, methodologies and disciplines in order to enable an understanding, and harness the potential, of Urban Imaginaries. The conference will also be organising a special track focusing on post-COVID urban futures.
