Smart and Sustainable Housing Futures: Towards an Efficient and Equitable Housing Delivery System

6-8 June 2018, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia

In 2018 the Asia-Pacific Network for Housing Research (APNHR) Conference and the Australasian Housing Researchers Conference (AHRC) are combining to hold a joint conference in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to meet with colleagues from Asia, the Pacific and Australasia whose research examines a broad range of housing issues – physical, economic, social, environmental and political.

Globally, governments are struggling to meet the demand for quality and affordable housing options. As cities continue to grow, the need to house increasing urban populations is straining infrastructure and escalating housing asset costs. Many governments have had to alter planning mechanisms to facilitate higher density urban development. However, burgeoning property prices are resulting in many individuals being priced out of the market or undergoing housing stress. It is time to rethink the housing delivery system to seek creative solutions to housing our populations. This conference seeks to address this by focusing on research and discussions about smart, sustainable, efficient and equitable housing delivery systems.
